Welcome to "Audra's Foodtopia"

Hi

Welcome to my Foodtopia.

My name is Audra. I was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. I'm married to a wonderful man and have four beautiful and energetic kids! I grew up in a house where food was VERY important. Every special occasion revolved around food. Birthdays, anniversaries, social gatherings, funerals,. We even had Sunday brunch. Yes, that’s right! We gathered to eat simply because it was Sunday! Whatever, whenever, our motto was “We’re together, let’s eat!” Even the conversation around the table was based around food. Where it was bought, how it was made and whether we liked or disliked it and would make/buy it again.

Loving food with a passion is wonderful but if this emphasis on food is not based on a healthy, whole diet it is very easy to fall into an overweight and unhealthy state.

What I have noticed is that people want to eat better but they simply don’t feel they can. For a slew of reasons. Either they don’t have the time, patience, motivation, budget or inspiration. Unfortunately because of this, people are generally less healthy, less happy, less active and are nourishing themselves and their kids with the wrong stuff. A lot of people don’t know where to begin. Others feel discouraged either because it’s too expensive or too time consuming. It got me wondering how I could share my passion for food with people in a simple and creative way that would inspire them to at least try to incorporate some healthier foods into their daily lives. It’s really much simpler than people think! All you need to do is have a desire, an open mind and patience. It’s a process. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Bit by bit you will make changes. Eliminating empty calorie foods and incorporating foods that are not only cheaper but much more versatile and offer a lot more nutrition. And lastly…Community! Surround yourself with positive people. Not only people who support your new found love for eating better but people who are making the same efforts and will motivate and inspire you! It’s a lot easier to stick with something when you don’t feel alone!

With my new venture I hope to create an atmosphere where people can unite, discuss and share ideas regarding everything from recipes, picky eaters, school lunches, grocery shopping etc…. A place to learn, explore, support and inspire! This is not a page where you will find any particular diets or fads! The only thing I endorse is healthy, wholesome eating which can and will be defined ultimately by YOU. It’s time to break out of the mold. Start cooking with new ingredients, new recipes, Not the same old stuff we grew up on. We all know we can make our momma’s chicken soup! Let’s try some new stuff! There’s a whole world of foods out there that we’ve never explored. Who knows, before long you might be the one people are looking to for some new and healthy ideas in the kitchen! I look forward to sharing my ideas with you and I genuinely hope they will improve the way you see, shop for and prepare your foods.
